Hackwood Art festival 2009 Workshop Schedule
General Information
There will be a charge of £6 per adult and £3 per child for each workshop. To book a space please telephone the Festival Office on 01256 474222 or you can book by clicking on the link and downloading a reservation form from this page. Payment should be made by cheque payable to "Hackwood Art Festival" once your booking has been confirmed by telephone or email. Please send payment within 14 days of confirmation of your booking.

10.15 - 11.15 - all ages welcome.
Including advice on the basic tools required to get you started en plein-air.
12.00 - 14.00 Age: adults
Capture your surroundings using simple techniques.
15.00 - 16.00 All ages welcome.
Participants will be encouraged to create small animal sculptures, focusing on stance and attitude. Those who are particularly pleased with their work can negotiate having it cast into bronze for a separate fee.
10.15-11.15 Age: 7+
Participants will be encouraged to create small figurative sculptures, focussing on stance and attitude. Those who are particularly pleased with their work can negotiate having it cast into bronze for a separate fee.
11.45-13.15 Age: Family
Participants will work from two dimensions into three using cut card, to form free standing sculptures. The use of liquid casting wax as a dipping medium will solidify the paper forms and provide a surface for texture and volume. Dipped into liquid wax. Wax will solidify to form free standing sculpture.
14.15-16.15 Age: Adults
Create 2 and3 dimensional maps of remembered or imaginary places, journeys and stories, using modeling clay, drawing, writing and collage. Bring any maps or images you may particularly want to use.
10.15 - 11.45 Age: adults
Create a fantastic map of an imaginary journey using collage. using collage, paint, pastels… What’s the best journey you ever went on? Where would you most like to be?
12.15 - 13.30 Age: 5+
Use cut out silhouettes and w/c paints to create a landscape picture with perspective.
16.00-17.00 Age: 8+
Weave a beautiful wall hanging from reclaimed and natural materials. You can bring a favourite landscape photo for inspiration, although plenty will be provided.
14.30 - 15.30 pm Age: Family
There is pattern all around – rock strata, tiles, curtains and prints, cartwheels. Try a few trial sketches first, then a painting, any subject, any style, in which pattern plays a prominent part.
10.15-12.15 Age: adults
Reflections can be seen in shop windows, vases, mirrors, crumpled silver paper, lakes, and rain swept streets. Paint a picture full of amazing reflections.
13.15-14.15 Age: Family
Make a mask of your favourite character in a story – a funny person, a bad man, a fierce animal, someone who always looks surprised, a sailor, or a pirate, or an admiral. Use anything you like; and try a little bright colour.
14.45 - 15.45 AgeL 7+
Participants will be encouraged to create small figurative sculptures, focussing on stance and attitude. Those who are particularly pleased with their work can negotiate having it cast into bronze for a separate fee.

Participants will work with the notion of drawing in both two and three dimensions using wire as a line to manipulate. Hanging sculptures will be produced based on figurative observations.
11.45 - 13.45 Age: adults

There is a minimum age of 14 for adult workshops.
* Please note that workshops marked with an asterix are suitable for either family groups or individuals aged 14 and over.
Please note:
• Workshops entail people getting their hands and clothes mess so please wear appropriate clothing.
• We will not accept responsibility for damage to clothing.
• Young children should be supervised by parents or guardians.
• Unless otherwise stated materials will be supplied.
• Spaces are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
