Printmaking at Hackwood

Anita Klein - our Celebrity Printmaker

Exciting things are afoot in our Printmaking Section this year. Firstly we are delighted to be exhibiting the work of Anita Klein one of the country’s foremost Printmakers. Anita is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and she has received broad acclaim throughout the world for her joyful work. Her recent exhibition of Italian Angels was virtually sold out before the show even started! I visited Anita recently to collect some work and meet her and her cheerful style spills out of her house into the road – as I saw her parked car and the roses and solanum jasminoides climbing around the front door, I knew I had found the right address. In addition to this we are also showing a selection of work from the acclaimed Artichoke Studios run by Melvyn Petterson and Colin Gale. We are thrilled that Melvyn will be present on both Saturday and Sunday demonstrating dry-point etching and other printmaking techniques and there will be opportunities for anyone to try it out – no need to book. Jan Picket will be present demonstrating Calligraphy and you can get any name drawn in beautiful calligraphy to frame and put on your wall for just £2.50! Letterpress Mike Willshire-Jacobs will also be at Hackwood to demonstrate letterpress - the old traditional book-printing techniques and also foiling and you will be able to buy a note book and try out his adanas letterpress to stamp your own initials onto it. There are still a few spaces left on the printmaking workshops, so come along and have a go.
