Contemporary Craft and Design at Hackwood
This year, the Festival features an exclusive range of work by outstanding Makers. We haven’t included ‘craft’ before and over the last few years have tended to just concentrate on ‘fine art’. This all changed when I encountered some outstanding craft and design work at a couple of events earlier this year. I realised that the time was right to include some of the extraordinary makers we have in the South of England. Robert Goldsmith at the Selbourne Pottery is one of our most respected Potters, well known for his stunning stoneware glazes in vivid cobalt blue and copper red and his fine brushwork. We are thrilled to have him exhibiting here this year. I am particularly pleased to be showing the work of three outstanding fine furniture makers and designers in Nick Thwaites, Hugo Egglestone and Nick Barbeton. The Marquee will also be featuring jewellery, textiles and glassware and wonderful Pierro handmade pens. Not only this but many of our exhibitors will be demonstrating elements of their craft and all will be happy to talk about their work. Please do make a point of visiting the Marquee on your day out at the Festival.
